What Is UGC?

User Generated Content (UGC) is content created by real people rather than brands, capturing authentic experiences with a product or service. For example, it could be a short video on social media of someone unboxing a new gadget, showing their first reactions, or a clip of a person trying out a skincare product and sharing their honest thoughts. It might be a photo of someone wearing a new outfit they bought, a TikTok of a recipe they’ve made using a particular app, or a review accompanied by a snapshot of a meal at a restaurant. What ties all of these together is that they show genuine, everyday interactions with a brand’s product, shared voluntarily by customers or by brands using paid UGC creators rather than professionally produced by the company itself.

Types
Of

UGC can be divided into two main categories:

Organic UGC

Reviews and Testimonials:

Customer feedback posted on websites or social media.

Photos and Videos:

Customers sharing images or videos featuring your product.

Blog Posts:

Articles or mentions by bloggers discussing your brand.

Social Media Mentions:

Posts or comments tagging your brand.

Paid UGC

Content created by freelance creators who are compensated to produce material that resembles organic UGC. Unlike influencers, these creators supply content that brands can use across their own channels instead of the creators channel.

🤝Builds Trust:

Consumers often trust content created by other users more than brand produced material or influencers.

💬Boosts Engagement:

UGC can lead to higher interaction rates on social media platforms, because they feel less like ads, and more like genuine recommendations.
